A survey of the nation’s singletons has revealed the average non-attached Brit has at least six bad dates a year on average – with one being classed a complete car-crash. The research also revealed some of the most common and cringe-inducing dating fails – which include slipping on dance floors, getting food stuck in teeth and choking on drinks.
Scroll down for video. The report shows that two thirds of single Brits 67 per cent would describe themselves as a dating disaster. Also on the list of common disasters were spilling drinks over potential partners and walking into lamp posts and for women, mistakenly tucking skirts into underwear after a visit to the loo. A staggering one in 20 Brits had even ended up in accident and emergency after hurting themselves while out on a date.
According to the survey, singletons today feel the weight of expectation on their shoulders, with 65 per cent of those polled saying they felt under pressure from family and friends to find ‘the one’. When asked why their dates were so disastrous, 41 per cent claimed it was because they were nervous, while 30 per cent said that their confidence was low and a further 22 per cent blamed their clumsiness for their bad luck in love.
And another 14 per cent said they put too much pressure on themselves to find their perfect date. Over half of those polled 53 per cent said a dating disaster has cost them a second date with someone they really liked. However, despite a catalogue of unfortunate nights out a hopeful 58 per cent said mishaps have not put them off finding Mr or Mrs Right. Nearly three quarters 67 per cent of Brits said they wished they were better at dating, with almost one in two 19 per cent admitting that a potential partner has left halfway through a date because of something they had messed up.
